Tim Lincecum showcase set for Feb. 15
Two-time Cy Young winner Tim Lincecum is planning to throw for scouts at a showcase on Feb. 15, according to a tweet from the founder and president of Driveline Baseball, where Lincecum trained in the offseason.
The showcase will take place at Driveline's facility in Washington state and won't be open to the public or media.
Driveline teased a Lincecum showcase in December after a photo of the bulked-up right-hander surfaced on social media.
Lincecum didn't pitch professionally in 2017 after a disastrous run with the Los Angeles Angels in 2016. The 33-year-old was cut by the Halos after going 2-6 with a 9.16 ERA in nine starts, walking 23, serving up 11 home runs and striking out 32 in 38 1/3 innings.
Lincecum was one of baseball's best pitchers in his early years with the San Francisco Giants. He won back-to-back National League Cy Youngs in 2008 and '09, led the league in strikeouts each year from '08-'10 and was named an All-Star four times in his first five seasons.
Lincecum's performance declined steeply in 2012, as he posted a 5.18 ERA. His next three seasons with the Giants were marred by injuries and inconsistency, and the team let him become a free agent at the end of the 2015 season.
Lincecum signed a one-year, $2.5 million contract with the Angels in May 2016 following a showcase.
