Pitlick nets pair, Stars stomp Sharks

Tyler Pitlick scored two goals Sunday night while Ben Bishop stopped 26 shots as the Dallas Stars routed the San Jose Sharks 6-0 at American Airlines Arena in Dallas.

Dallas (22-15-3) improved to 14-4-1 at home with its fourth win in five games, while San Jose (20-12-4) saw its three-game winning streak end with a resounding thud.

Goalie Martin Jones (13-9-3) was chased after two periods, giving up four goals on 22 shots.

The first of those occurred at 6:19 of the first period. Defenseman John Klingberg potted his fifth goal of the season with Mattias Janmark and Alexander Radulov picking up assists. Pitlick got on the scoresheet at 15:07, helped by Radek Faksa, to make it 2-0.

Stephen Johns upped the lead to 3-0 at 4:25 of the second period with his fourth goal, Janmark and Faksa each drawing their second assists of the night. Tyler Seguin joined in on the fun at 9:33 with a power play marker, 36 seconds after Justin Braun drew a roughing minor. It was the 19th goal for Seguin, with Klingberg picking up his 29th helper and Jamie Benn his 20th.

Aaron Dell relieved Jones in the third period, but he could do little to stem the onslaught. Devin Shore made it 5-0 at 11:05 with his fourth tally of the season, Benn and defenseman Dan Hamhuis each earning assists.

Pitlick capped the scoring at 11:55 with his seventh goal, Faksa picking up his third assist and Antoine Roussel getting the secondary helper. A total of 11 players tallied at least one point for the Stars, who drew within three points of St. Louis for third place in the stacked Central Division.

The only negative for Dallas occurred when Radulov suffered an upper-body injury after being shoved into the boards in the second period. Hamhuis missed part of the second period after taking a stick to the face that touched off a scrum, but was able to return for the third period.

Dell stopped eight of 10 shots in his period of work for the Sharks, which started a five-game road trip that also takes them to Montreal, Toronto, Ottawa and Winnipeg.
