STRATEGIC OPTIONS
More than 20 firms listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange are re-evaluating their strategic options, which means that their ownership might soon change, the business daily Parkiet reported on Tuesday.
SWISS FRANC BORROWERS
Marek Chrzanowski, the head of Poland's financial regulator KNF, told the Dziennik Gazeta Prawna daily that the draft bill submitted earlier this month by President Andrzej Duda on how to help troubled foreign currency borrowers, mainly those who borrowed in Swiss francs, should replace all other earlier proposals.
COGNOR
The Polish steel maker Cognor is planning an additional share placement worth around 100 million zlotys ($27.77 million)to help reduce its debt, the daily Puls Biznesu reported.
WAREHOUSES
The size of commercial warehouse space leased in Poland rose 32 percent in the first six months, year-on-year, mainly due to higher demand from construction and home improvement stores, the daily Puls Biznesu reported, citing data from the consulting firm Axi Immo.
ELECTRICITY IMPORTS
Poland imported 3.3 terawatt-hours (TWh) of power in the first half of the year, which nearly equals the total amount of power imported in 2015 and is much higher than in the corresponding period of last year, the daily Rzeczpospolita reported.
WIZZ AIR
Jozsef Varadi, chief executive officer of the low-cost airline Wizz Air, told the Rzeczpospolita that he is not interested in co-operation with Poland's largest airline LOT.
