Poland - Factors to Watch Feb 22

Following are news stories, press reports and events to watch that may affect Poland's financial markets on Wednesday. ALL TIMES GMT (Poland: GMT + 1 hour):

BGK

Polish state-run Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego (BGK) placed three-year bonds worth 1.16 billion zloty ($284.05 million) on Tuesday with a margin of 40 basis points over WIBOR, it said in a statement.

The aim of the issue was to roll over 500-million zloty papers maturing on February 27. As the demand was high, the bank has decided to increase the amount of the issue to 1.16 billion zloty. BGK also said it may issue eurobonds in 2017.

EU FUNDS

European Union funds reaching Poland after 2020 and after Brexit should not drastically fall, Jerzy Kwiecinski, a deputy minister of development said in an interview with the Gazeta Polska daily.

INTERNET SHOPPING

About 42 percent of internet users in Poland did some of their shopping online in 2016, which represented a 7-percent increase in annual terms, the daily Rzeczpospolita reported, citing Eurostat data.

MBA

Holders of Master in Business Administration degree in Poland earned on average 11,600 zlotys ($2,840.70) gross a month last year, the daily Rzeczpospolita reported.

FINANCIAL RESULTS

Every stock company in Poland will have to have an internet domain where all financial results will be published, the daily Dziennik Gazeta Prawna reported, citing a proposed legislation by the justice ministry. There are about 10,000 stock companies in Poland.

ZABKA

According to sources quoted by the Puls Biznesu daily, the deal under which CVC Capital Partners agreed to buy retail chain Zabka Polska SA was worth around 5 billion zloty ($1.23 billion).

MINING STRATEGY

Poland's new mining strategy for 2016-2030, which envisages sector consolidation, will be implemented in May, the daily Dziennik Gazeta Prawna reported, citing sources.

FOODSTUFF PRICES

Prices for foodstuff will peak around May, rising some 6 percent points, the daily Dziennik Gazeta Prawna reported, citing some economists. ($1 = 4.0808 zlotys)
