Shuttered irreverent news website Gawker Media LLC has reached a $31 million cash settlement with Hulk Hogan, the former professional wrestler who won a $140 million judgment against the site over a leaked sex tape. Hogan's judgment forced Gawker, known for its sassy tone and gossipy posts, into bankruptcy in June. Its sister websites, including sports site Deadspin and women's site Jezebel, were acquired for $135 million by media company Univision Holdings Inc in a bankruptcy auction last summer.
Cosby renews effort to toss sexual assault charges in Pennsylvania
Bill Cosby on Wednesday renewed his attempt to have sexual assault charges against him thrown out, with the comedian's lawyers arguing in a Pennsylvania court that an 11-year gap between the incident and Cosby's arrest had violated his rights. The argument was made during a two-day hearing to determine the scope of evidence prosecutors can introduce at Cosby's trial next June, including whether they can call as witnesses more than a dozen other women who have accused him of sexual assault.

Taylor Swift tops Forbes' 2016 list of highest paid women in music
With earnings of $170 million, pop singer Taylor Swift was 2016's highest-paid woman in music, Forbes magazine said on Wednesday. Swift, 26, smashed the Rolling Stones' North American touring record, pulling in a total of more than $200 million on the North American portion of her "1989" world tour. Last year, the "Bad Blood" singer came in second to Katy Perry with an estimated $80 million.
Cosby lawyers seek to bar his testimony from sexual assault trial
Bill Cosby's lawyers asked a Pennsylvania state judge on Tuesday to prevent jurors at his sexual assault trial from hearing potentially damaging testimony he gave under oath in 2005. Lawyer Brian McMonagle argued at a hearing in Norristown that a former Montgomery County prosecutor had promised never to prosecute Cosby over allegations by Andrea Constand, a former basketball coach at Cosby's alma mater Temple University, that he attacked her at his Pennsylvania home in 2004.
