Poland - Factors to Watch Feb 4

Following are news stories, press reports and events to watch that may affect Poland's financial markets on Thursday. ALL TIMES GMT (Poland: GMT + 1 hour):

MBANK

Poland's fourth-largest lender by assets, mBank, reported on Thursday an unchanged net profit in the fourth-quarter year-on-year at 309.5 million zlotys ($77.7 million), above market forecasts.

KGHM

The supervisory board at Europe's No.2 copper producer, Poland's KGHM, replaced its long-serving Chief Executive Herbert Wirth with his predecessor Krzysztof Skora in another round of management reshuffles at Poland's state-run companies.

LOT

Polish treasury is considering merging its flag airline LOT with its railway cargo carrier PKP Cargo or the state railways' PKP Intercity unit, as well as a possible financial aid for LOT from the state railways, daily Rzeczpospolita reported.

BOND TENDER

Poland will offer 4.5-7.5 billion zlotys ($1.12-1.9 bln) in treasury bonds due October 2018 and July 2026 at a tender on Thursday.

INTEREST RATES

Poland's central bank kept interest rates at an all-time low on Wednesday, pointing to a stable outlook for policy as prolonged deflation was offset by increased turbulence on global markets.

RETAIL TAX

The planned retail tax draft bill, if implemented in its present version, will be lethal for the sector, the sector's leading group Polska Siec Handlowa Lewiatan wrote in a letter to the prime minister, Gazeta Wyborcza daily reported.

MINING

Miners at the state-owned ailing coal miner Kompania Weglowa, want the management to cancel its decision to terminate the agreement that guarantees no change to employment conditions in a new company that is to replace Kompania as a part of the restructuring plan, Gazeta Wyborcza reported.

TAX COLLECTION

Deputy Finance Minister Konrad Raczkowski told Puls Biznesu daily that better tax collection may give the budget additional 15 billion zlotys ($3.8 billion) in 2016.
