Serena Williams hints at tennis return
Serena Williams has hinted at a potential tennis comeback with the first grand slam of the season just weeks away.
The 36-year-old posted a picture on her Instagram page – with no caption – of her tennis bag on court, suggesting she is back in training. The Australian Open gets under way on January 15.
Williams has not played since winning the title in Melbourne earlier this year, where she was pregnant with her first child.

She gave birth to a girl in September and posted this picture on social media last week with the caption: “Be excited. Be very excited….” to hint that training has already begun.
And, Australian Open tournament director Craig Tiley gave more hope to Williams fans that the 23-time grand slam champion will return to Melbourne to defend her crown in 2018.
He told Herald Sun earlier this month: “She’s got her visa, she’s entered, she’s practising and she’s probably just got to find a bit more space for a bigger entourage.
“There’s no question that she’ll be ready in our view and she wants to break a record that is Margaret Court’s.”
