Blake stars as Kent progress

Alex Blake's unbeaten 59 proved enough to book Kent's place in the quarter-finals of the NatWest T20 Blast with a three-wicket win over Gloucestershire at Cheltenham.

The left-hander reached his score off just 24 balls and Sam Northeast contributed 49 as his side reached their victory target of 167 with two balls to spare.

Gloucestershire had posted 166 for seven with Michael Klinger strengthening his position as the competition's leading run-maker with 75. Mitchell Claydon was the most successful Kent bowler with three wickets for 27 runs.

But Yorkshire's fading hopes of reaching the last eight were dealt another blow as they were beaten by four wickets by bottom-of-the-table Derbyshire at Chesterfield.

Off-spinner Wes Durston did the damage as he took three Yorkshire wickets in the first five overs and despite a plucky 45 from Glenn Maxwell the visitors could only post a target of 146 for nine.

Hamish Rutherford smashed 40 from 24 balls and Wayne Madsen added 41 from 38 balls as the Falcons reached their target in the 19th over to end a run of seven consecutive home T20 defeats to Yorkshire.

Richard Levi's superb 67 in just 28 balls kept up Northamptonshire's push for the quarter-finals with a nine-wicket win over Leicestershire at Wantage Road.

Levi fired his 21st T20 50 as Northamptonshire gunned down a target of 112 in a 10-over contest with nine balls to spare and ensured Grant Elliott's own fine innings of 56 in 29 balls for Leicestershire was in a losing cause.
