Police worried about missing girls

Police say they are "increasingly concerned" about the whereabouts of two missing 12-year-old girls.

Leda Hassan and her cousin Kanni Rafiq were last seen at a family property in Arnold Crescent, Toxteth, Liverpool, yesterday.

Officers have been looking for the girls since 3pm when Merseyside Police was told they had gone missing.

Leda is described as being Asian, 5ft, of slim build with long brown/light blonde hair. She has brown eyes and was last seen wearing a green coat, brown boots and carrying a large black handbag.

Kanni is described as being 5ft, with long dark hair, and possibly wearing a black coat.

A police spokesman said: "Both girls are believed to be together. They are both known to frequent the Toxteth and Liverpool areas and both also have links to Manchester.

"Police and relatives are becoming increasingly concerned about their whereabouts and would urge anyone who knows where Leda and Kanni are to contact Merseyside Police on 101 or the independent Missing People Charity on 116 000."
