SHEFFIELD TO MARK LOVE PARKS WEEK
Sheffield is to host a range of activities as part of a week-long celebration of parks and green spaces.
Around 20 venues across the city will be running events during Love Parks Week 2014.
Children will be able to take part in zorbing, climbing, and parachute games and sports including football, tennis and rounders. Some parks will also host arts and craft sessions.
Events will be organised by Activity Sheffield on behalf of Sheffield City Council. Other attractions will include funfairs and the Tramlines music festival, to be held at Endcliffe Park and Weston Park on July 26 and 27.
Love Parks Week was launched in 2006 to celebrate the UK's parks and green spaces. More than 1,100 events were held across the UK last year.
Councillor Isobel Bowler, cabinet member for culture, sport and leisure at Sheffield City Council, said: "Sheffield has some of the finest green spaces of any city in not just the UK, but the world.
"From smaller urban parks such as Ruskin Park to vast expanses such as Graves Park, the city really does have something to offer everybody - and there is no finer time to explore the landscapes on our doorstep than during Love Parks Week, taking place at the beginning of the summer holidays.
"I would encourage everyone to sample the wide range of activities that are on offer and make the most of the tremendous assets that are Sheffield's parks and green spaces."
Love Parks Week begins on July 25. For details of events in Sheffield, visit www.sheffield.gov.uk.
