MBE FOR GAVIN AND STACEY'S RUTH
Actress Ruth Jones, who co-created the hit series Gavin and Stacey, will be awarded an MBE by the Queen today.
The actress also had success playing other roles including Carry On star Hattie Jacques in a BBC biopic and playing the starring role in the Sky comedy Stella.
Also being recognised during the Windsor Castle investiture ceremony will be Ron Ayers, chief of aerodynamics with the Bloodhound project - a bid to break the world land speed record with a car travelling at more than 1,000mph.
Mr Ayes, who was part of the team that set the last land speed record of 763.035mph with Thrust SSC, will be awarded an MBE for services to engineering.
Lance Corporal Wesley Masters, from The Royal Army Medical Corps, will be awarded the Military Cross for his brave efforts providing help to a colleague who was shot in the neck by Taliban insurgents.
He ran across open ground while under heavy fire to tend to the wounded soldier who was able rejoin the operation thanks to the medical assistance he received.
During the ceremony Sir Mark Worthington, who was Baroness Thatcher's private secretary, will be dubbed a knight.
He is being recognised for his support to Lady Thatcher following her departure from Downing Street, and at her funeral last year was singled out by politicians for his dedication and support to the former Prime Minister in the latter years of her life.
