VICTIM'S BROTHER BACKS JUDGE REVIEW
Lady Justice Hallett's review has delivered what she promised, the brother of a Hyde Park bombing victim has said.
Chris Daly and his brother Lieutenant Anthony Daly saw each other for the last time on the latter's wedding day.
Three weeks later, newly-wed Lieutenant Daly was killed aged just 23 in the 1982 IRA Hyde Park bombing.
The judge-led review was ordered in the wake of the high-profile collapse of the case against Co Donegal man John Downey, who was accused of murdering Lieutenant Daly and three other soldiers in the bombing.
Mr Downey was wrongly given a Government assurance he was not wanted by UK police even though he was being sought for the bombing. He denied involvement in the attack.
Having read the review, Mr Daly said: "Ultimately it goes a long way in answering a lot of the questions that were raised when the John Downey case was thrown out of the Old Bailey.
"I think the report itself is very objective and Lady Justice Hallett has delivered on what she promised when she personally met the families a few months back."
