GROUND KEY TO AUDACIA PLANS

Audacia's next target is likely to be determined by the ground given her preference for a soft surface.

Hugo Palmer's four-year-old defied her relatively lowly rating to win the Listed Pipalong Stakes at Pontefract last week.

That win boosted her value for the paddocks and a step up in class has not been ruled out.

"Audacia is quite hard to place as she's won a Listed race but was only rated 85 so she'd now have to carry a penalty in other Listed races," said Palmer.

"She was going to run at York at the end of the month and still might (British Stallion Studs EBF Lyric Fillies' Stakes, August 25), that's not impossible.

"She's done her job, though, and we'll have to wait for her ground whatever.

"I suppose a good race for her would be the (Thoroughbred Breeders Association) Atalanta Stakes (August 30) at Sandown but that's the same day as the Solario which is where we want to run Aktabantay so if the ground is good enough for him to run it will be too fast for her."
