NAGA TO BE A BBC BREAKFAST REGULAR

Presenter Naga Munchetty is to be given a permanent place on the BBC Breakfast sofa as she joins the regular team of the TV morning show.

She has frequently filled in on the show, which saw the departure of Susanna Reid for rival ITV slot Good Morning Britain earlier this year, and she has now landed a spot in the core line-up.

Munchetty features alongside Bill Turnbull, Louise Minchin and Charlie Stayt as main hosts of the programme, screened by BBC1 and the BBC News Channel.

She will co-host the show from Thursday to Saturday with Stayt.

Munchetty, also a familiar face on BBC World News, began her journalistic career as a financial reporter and joined the corporation to present BBC2's Working Lunch.

She said: "It's a real privilege to be on a team which is a big part of the morning routine for millions of viewers in the UK. I'm thrilled that I'll have my own seat on that famous red sofa."

BBC Breakfast editor Adam Bullimore said: "She has bags of journalistic experience and personality and is a fantastic addition to our regular team of presenters."
