TWO KILLED BY TRAIN ON CROSSING
Two people have died after being struck by a freight train at a footpath crossing just outside a city centre.
The incident occurred just before noon today at Allenby Estates - a crossing to the east of Lincoln.
The train involved was heading for Immingham Docks on Humberside.
British Transport Police (BTP) said the incident, at Croft Lane in the village of Cherry Willingham, was reported at 11.57am and Lincolnshire Police and East Midlands Ambulance staff also attended.
A BTP spokesman said: "Both people have been pronounced dead at the scene. Officers are now working to establish the full circumstances of the incident, which is currently being treated as non-suspicious.
"The Rail Accident Investigation Branch has been informed."
