THERAPY SERVICE WINS FUNDING BOOST
Funding worth £10,000 will be used to create a toy and equipment library for disabled children in north London.
The Call, in Hackney, secured the money from the Big Lottery Fund's Awards For All programme. It was one of 108 projects in the capital to share £919,220.
The funding will help the charity set up a store of multi-sensory equipment which families can use for therapy sessions at home. It will also support skills training for parents in the Hackney and Haringey area.
Call chairwoman Helen Yakter said: "We are thrilled to be awarded £10,000 by the Big Lottery Fund, it will ensure we can support vulnerable and disabled children to achieve more.
"Our equipment is vital to the wellbeing of the children that use it as it helps with their continual rehabilitation and now they will be able to continue their therapy at home."
Other groups to receive funding include Greenwich Co-operative Development Agency. It was awarded £9,690 to build six pop-up hub cafes where residents can learn and develop business skills.
Claire Pritchard, chief executive of Greenwich Co-operative Development Agency, said: "This vital amount of money will help some of the most deprived areas in the borough have the opportunity to build and increase their business running skills and become a big part of the community."
Project Propeller, in Westminster, secured £6,410 to deliver an event for RAF veterans to meet fellow survivors of the Second World War.
Lyn Cole, Big Lottery Fund deputy director for England, said: "It's great to hear the wealth of work that is being carried out across London with Lottery money.
"These great projects across London demonstrate the life-changing impact that small amounts of Lottery funding can have and will continue to do so, long into the future."
