ANDERSON MAKES BREAKTHROUGH
James Anderson's 50th Test wicket at Trent Bridge was England's only breakthrough in the first hour of the Investec series against India.
The tourists reached 53 for one, largely at Anderson's expense, after choosing to bat first in sunny conditions which provided just a hint of help in the air for England's new-ball bowlers.
In the first over, Murali Vijay picked up three successive boundaries off Anderson - controlled edges wide of the slips and then a clip off his legs.

Vijay and Shikhar Dhawan were then untroubled until Anderson found the edge as the left-hander pushed forward in the seventh over.
Matt Prior's diving catch to his left completed a dismissal which took Anderson to his half-century at this ground, where he has so often cashed in with the swinging ball.
But there was no further success for him on a surface with little obvious life in it, as several deliveries from each end barely carried through on the full to Prior - and Anderson conceded 40 runs in his seven-over spell.
Vijay was joined by Cheteshwar Pujara, as Alastair Cook gave Ben Stokes - back for his first Test since last winter's Ashes - an early role as first change in place of Stuart Broad at the pavilion end.
Pujara had announced himself with a four off the mark, when Broad strayed on to his pads.
But when the number three added a second boundary, it was a false shot off Anderson - edged between slips and gully.
