GRIGOR DIMITROV FACTFILE

1991: Born May 16 in Haskovo, Bulgaria. Later takes up tennis at the age of three.

2007: Reaches Orange Bowl final in Miami but loses to Ricardas Berankis.

2008: Wins junior Wimbledon and US Open titles. Turns professional. Wins a low-level tournament in Barcelona. Makes his senior ATP tour debut on grass at the s-Hertogenbosch tournament, losing in the first round to Igor Andreev. Finishes the year inside the top 500 for the first time, at number 482.

2009: Beats Tomas Berdych in Rotterdam for first ATP tournament victory, before taking a set but losing to Rafael Nadal. Makes senior Wimbledon debut, on a wild card, but abandons his first-round match against Igor Kunitsyn in the third set due to injury. Coach Peter Lundgren says Dimitrov is better at his age than Roger Federer was - leading to the nickname 'Baby Fed'.

2010: A steady year sees Dimitrov reach 106th in the world rankings. Most notably he is fined for pushing chair umpire Daniel Infanger, following a defeat at a minor tournament in Helsinki.

2011: Wins his first grand slam match, beating Andrey Golubev at the Australian Open before bowing out to Stan Wawrinka. Reaches quarter-finals at Eastbourne and beats German Cedrik-Marcel Stebe for his first senior Wimbledon victory, before losing in four sets to Jo-Wilfried Tsonga. Loses to Andy Murray in Bangkok quarter-finals. Ends the year ranked 76th.

2012: Reaches the semi-finals at Queen's Club, his first last-four showing on tour, but loses to David Nalbandian. Retires injured from match against Marcos Baghdatis in second round at Wimbledon. Loses in Swedish Open and Swiss Open semi-finals. Up to 48th in the world. Begins dating women's star Maria Sharapova.

2013: Starts the year by reaching first career final, losing to Murray in Brisbane. Beaten 11-9 in final set of second-round match against Grega Zemlja at Wimbledon. Appoints new coach Roger Rasheed in October, and wins first career title two weeks later in Stockholm, beating David Ferrer in the final. Finishes 23rd in the world at the end of the year.

2014: With Australian taskmaster Rasheed at the helm, Dimitrov reaches his first grand slam quarter-final at the Australian Open, losing a tough four-set match to Rafael Nadal. Wins tournaments in Acapulco, where he beats Murray in the semi-finals, plus Bucharest and London's Queen's Club.

July 2 - Beats Murray 6-1 7-6 (7/4) 6-2 in Wimbledon quarter-finals to reach first slam semi-final.
