Cards reward Palmer with extension
Quarterback Carson Palmer has signed a three-year contract extension with the first-place Arizona Cardinals, the National Football League team announced.
The Cardinals did not release details of the deal but the US media reported it to be worth $50 million.
Palmer was scheduled to become a free agent at the end of the current season.

The Cardinals decided to reward Palmer for leading them to a 7-1 record so far this season. It is the club's best eight-game record since 1974 when the team was located in St. Louis.
Since arriving from Oakland prior to the start of last season, Palmer has compiled a 15-6 mark as starter, best in modern franchise history.
In five games this season, he has completed 116-of-188 passes for 1,385 yards, 11 touchdowns and just two interceptions.
