Man, 70, stabbed in back in Sydney mugging

A 70-year-old man has been stabbed in the back during a robbery in inner Sydney.

Emergency workers were called to a Waterloo unit block just before 1am on Saturday and found the victim with a stab wound in his the back.

Police were told the man was standing outside the unit block when he was stabbed by an unknown man who stole a small amount of cash.

The victim was taken to hospital in a stable condition and police have set up a crime scene.
