Qld closes parks and borders before Easter

It's almost the Easter holidays, but not as we know it.

The coronavirus pandemic has brought Queensland's plans for that last holiday before winter to a grinding halt.

SO WHAT'S HAPPENING?

* Interstate tourists should stay home. Queensland's border is closed from midnight on Thursday.

* Barriers will be put in place through the heart of Coolangatta to stop pedestrians from crossing the border.

WHAT'S OPEN

* Not much. Camping grounds, national park, public pools and swimming holes 4wd zones are closed.

* Walking tracks, hiking trails and public lookouts are closed.

* Cinemas are closed, but shops remain open for essentials.

* Outdoor gyms, skate parks, playgrounds, exercise equipment, basketball facilities, BMX tracks and barbecues are closed.

* No house parties, no dinner parties and no BBQs.

* Theme parks are closed.

BUT I'M BORED?

* You can still access the beaches to swim or exercise as a family unit or with no more than two people who must adhere to social distancing.

* You can go for a walk, but stick to your suburb and be sure to socially distance.

* Perfect chance to spring clean. Remember what Marie Kondo says: "Tidy your space, transform your life".

* Best bet is to stay home, get comfy and prepare to binge-watch whatever takes your fancy.

* Drag out the board games and if you have to put a tent up, do it in your backyard or lounge room.

* Remember to check in with family and touch base with seniors who might need a hand.
