Man charged over NSW campground stabbing
A man has been charged over the alleged stabbing of another man at a campground in NSW's northern rivers region.
Police and emergency services responded to reports a man had been stabbed at a camping area in Kyogle just after midday on Saturday, police say.
A 61-year-old man was treated for a stab wound to his lower back and was taken to Lismore Base Hospital.
He remains there in a stable condition.
A 58-year-old man has been charged with wound with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
Police will allege in court the men were previously not known to each other.
Police will also allege the men exchanged words over facilities at the campgrounds, before the younger man became aggressive and stabbed the older man during a physical altercation.
The 58-year-old was refused bail and was due to appear before Lismore Bail Court on Sunday.
