Shot fired after stand-off at Sydney home

A shot has been fired outside a western Sydney home but the six people inside were unhurt and police are appealing for help to identify the perpetrators.

Two men with firearms threatened the 59-year-old resident, who slammed his front door on them before a gunshot was heard outside the property on Thorney Road, Fairfield, shortly before 6pm on Tuesday.

The man, his wife, their two sons and their partners were at home at the time but were not hurt. Police described suspects as wearing dark clothing with their faces partially covered.
