Say g'day to quiet Britons, PM urges Boris

Prime Minister Scott Morrison has congratulated UK counterpart Boris Johnson on his election win.

"Say g'day to the quiet Britons for us," Mr Morrison tweeted on Friday evening, a play on his popular "quiet Australians" phrase.

He said the Brits had delivered Mr Johnson a resounding victory to enable his return as PM.

"Looking forward to the stability this brings and a new deal for Oz with the UK," he said.

Mr Johnson's Conservative Party is on course for a firm victory in Britain's election, with UK Labour facing one of its worst results since 1935.
