Girl, 12, two others dead on Qld roads
Three people, including a 12-year-old girl, have lost their lives in horror smashes on Queensland's roads in an hour.
Around 7.35pm on Saturday, a truck and car travelling west on Mackay Eungella Road in Mirani, west of Mackay, collided and the car caught fire.
The three occupants in the car escaped but the girl suffered critical injuries and died at the scene. The female driver and a nine-year-old boy were taken to hospital with minor injuries.
The truck driver was not injured.
Then at 8.40pm, two cars collided on the Bruce Highway just south of Black River Bridge, west of Townsville.
The drivers, a 20-year-old man and a 48-year-old woman, died at the scene. Both were alone at the time.
