Man charged after Sydney stabbing

One man is in a serious condition and another has been charged after a stabbing outside a council depot in inner Sydney.

Police said they were called to Alexandra Canal Depot in Alexandria on Tuesday afternoon after a man was stabbed.

He was treated for multiple wounds and taken to St Vincent's Hospital where he remains in a serious condition.

Another man, aged 23, was arrested at the scene.

He has since been charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and refused bail ahead of an expected appearance at Central Local Court on Wednesday.

City of Sydney said it was aware of an incident involving two contract workers outside its depot.

"We are assisting police with their investigation and have offered support to all staff at the depot," a statement said.
