Crown Perth strike to cause Melb Cup chaos
Workers at Crown Perth plan to derail Melbourne Cup celebrations with a four-hour strike and a picket line they will urge punters not to cross as they battle for a better pay deal.
Management sent staff a memo saying the Fair Work Commission had deemed a proposed two-hour stoppage on Tuesday unlawful and unprotected, and the casino would have to deduct four hours of pay.
But United Voice, the union representing the workers, said the notice to strike was valid and staff would now walk off the job for four hours.
