Qld jail in lockdown, prisoner on roof

A Queensland jail is in lockdown after a prisoner made his way onto a roof.

Queensland Corrective Services confirmed the man managed to gain access to the roof of a walkway at Borallon Correctional Centre about 5.20pm on Tuesday.

A spokeswoman for corrective services said attempts were being made to communicate with the prisoner and additional security had been put in place.

"As is standard practice; the centre was placed into lockdown to ensure the safety and security of the prison," she said in a statement to AAP.
