Designer handbags stolen from Melb unit
Designer handbags worth $200,000 have been stolen from an apartment in a CBD hotel in Melbourne by a brazen thief with access to a security pass.
The man entered the hotel on Little Collins Street in the CBD about 4pm on July 14 and used a swipe card in the lift to select all floors before gaining access to a privately owned apartment on one of the higher floors, police said on Friday.
He was in the apartment for about 30 minutes before leaving with a small suitcase and large cardboard box filled with designer bags worth an estimated $200,000.
He then left the building via Coates Lane and struggled with the box, dropping some of the bags on to the street before leaving in a taxi.
Investigators have released CCTV and images of a man they believe may be able to assist with their inquiries.
