Man to face court over alleged AFP assault

A man will appear in court after he allegedly assaulted two Australian Federal Police officers as they tried to remove him from a flight at Sydney Airport.

The AFP responded to a request for assistance about 4.05pm on Saturday after a 26-year-old male passenger on board a flight to Melbourne allegedly became disruptive.

In the course of removing the man from the plane, he allegedly assaulted two officers, an AFP spokesman said in a statement.

Neither officer needed medical treatment.

The 26-year-old has been issued a Court Attendance Notice and is due to appear before the Downing Centre Local Court in late July, in relation to numerous offences including the assault and resisting police.
