Grief after NSW mum, child fall from cliff

A mother who was found dead with her child at the bottom of a lookout in a suspected murder-suicide south of Sydney has been identified.

Emergency services were called to Mount Keira, near Wollongong, on Tuesday afternoon where they found the bodies in dense bushland below the Robertson lookout, near Wollongong.

They were retrieved about 7pm on Tuesday night.

Police on Wednesday confirmed the woman was Tanja Ludwig.

Ms Ludwig's Facebook reveals a woman acutely aware of the struggles of mental health.

"It's ok not to be ok," she wrote a week before Christmas along with a list of mental health service phone numbers.

"We all need support sometimes."

A picture of a beaming Ms Ludwig also mentions Perinatal Anxiety & Depression Awareness awareness week.

Her profile was bombarded with tributes as news of her and her child's death began filtering out.

"I wish I did know you so I could've tried to help you find light in the dark," one local wrote on Wednesday.

A report is being prepared for the coroner and police are treating the incident as a potential murder-suicide.

Anti-domestic violence project, The Red Heart Campaign, mourned Ms Ludwig's child as the seventh young life killed this year.

Flowers have been laid near the lookout by members of the community touched by the tragedy.
