NT farmers to get drought funding

Drought-hit Northern Territory farmers will be eligible for rebates of up to $25,000 for the installation of emergency water infrastructure.

Farmers will share in $3 million allocated by the NT government to pay for new livestock watering facilities such as bores, piping, tanks, troughs, pumps and fittings to better manage livestock access to water during dry conditions.

"Feed conditions have dramatically deteriorated in several NT districts in the past four months, with the rainfall the lowest on record in many districts, particularly in the Barkly Tablelands and Central Australia," Primary Industries Minister Paul Kirby said on Friday.
