Crown bid to delay Melb tower start fails

Crown Resorts says it is looking at its options after the Victorian government turned down an application to delay the construction start date of its Queensbridge hotel tower in Melbourne.

The casino operator and joint-venture partner Schiavello Group applied for a planning extension last month while they obtained financing, but Crown says they have been informally notified that the request has been rejected.

Crown, which expects formal notification soon, retains a 50 per cent stake in the land and says it will consider the next step in conjunction with Schiavello.
