Kemp goes low in final round of Vic Open

Australian Sarah Kemp has carded a spectacular seven-under 65 to rocket up the leaderboard on the final day of the women's Vic Open at 13th Beach.

After just surviving the round-three cut, Kemp teed off in the second group early on Sunday morning and began her round inauspiciously with a double-bogey six.

But the 33-year-old turned things around in dramatic fashion with nine birdies, including five in succession beginning at the 4th hole.

Kemp finished the tournament at six-under 283 to claim the early clubhouse lead.

Overnight leader Kim Kaufman from the United States continued to set the pace early in the final round.

She was at nine-under after four holes, three shots clear of a group of six players including Australians Kemp and Katherine Kirk.

But countrywoman Su Oh was rapidly slipping out of contention after dropping four shots in her opening four holes to slide to four-under.

The $A1.5 million tournament is being co-sanctioned by the LPGA Tour for the first time in 2019.
