Sydney road rage victim bashed with hammer

A Sydney man is due to face court accused of fracturing another man's skull with a hammer in a fit of road rage.

The 25-year-old Guildford man was arrested on Thursday afternoon after police were called to Ettalong Road in Auburn, and found a 65-year-old man lying next to his ute with serious head injuries.

Officers were told the man was struck with a hammer during a fight over a road rage incident.

Police said the injured man was treated for a fractured skull in Westmead Hospital and released.

The 25-year-old man was arrested at the scene and is due to appear in Burwood Local Court on Friday charged with causing grievous bodily harm to a person with intent.
