TAFEs need to do more about sexual assault
Many TAFE and independent higher education providers have not done enough to address sexual harassment and assaults on their campuses, a new report has found.
The Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency report found that 58 per cent of TAFEs and independent higher education providers have a policy in relation to sexual assault and harassment, while 37 per cent report incident data internally.
While most universities were found to have implemented appropriate recommendations, TEQSA would now be looking for evidence that the education providers were upholding them, Education Minister Dan Tehan said in a statement on Friday.
