Driver whose car was crushed by sign talks
The Melbourne driver who escaped serious injury when a giant freeway sign collapsed onto her car recalls how it "just kept falling".
Nella Lettieri told the Nine network she first thought she had rammed into another vehicle when the four-metre by five-metre sign toppled onto her vehicle on the Tullamarine freeway, near Essendon Airport, about 5.30pm Tuesday.
"I thought I hit the back of something ... but looking at it, I'm thinking, where's the car?" she said.
"It was like a roller door had come down right in front of me and just shut and I think I'd gone to swerve thinking, 'okay, it's fallen, let me just move to the side', but it actually fell on me and it just kept falling. It's just like, okay, when's it going to stop?"
