NSW man charged with attempted murder
A man has been charged with attempted murder after a 68-year-old woman was seriously injured west of Sydney.
The 56-year-old was arrested after the incident on Thursday afternoon at Lithgow.
Police say the woman sustained a serious neck injury.
She was rushed to Lithgow Hospital and airlifted to Sydney's Westmead Hospital, where she remains in a critical condition.
Meanwhile the man, who was said to be known to the woman, has been charged with attempted murder and is expected to face Lithgow Local Court on Friday.
