Ex-cop to head NSW prison task force

Former NSW Police assistant commissioner Mark Murdoch will head an investigation into inappropriate relationships between prison guards and inmates.

It comes following the suspension of a female guard in the state over claims she had a sexual relationship with a convicted cop-killer at a mid-north coast jail.

"I stand with all prison officers and correctional staff who are appalled by the reports of alleged inappropriate relationships with inmates," Corrections Minister David Elliott said in naming Mr Murdoch as the head of the task force on Sunday.
