Convicted Qld surgeon granted retrial
A Gold Coast cosmetic surgeon convicted of sexually assaulting a patient has been granted a retrial.
Cesidio Colagrande was sentenced to nine months in prison, wholly suspended for 18 months, after being found guilty by a District Court jury of assaulting the 24-year-old female patient in 2015.
Colagrande was granted the retrial on Tuesday after the Queensland Court of Appeal ruled his legal team could have been disadvantaged by prosecutors not passing on until too late into the trial a statement by the patient that she was unwilling to proceed with the complaint.
