Workload doubles for NSW corruption body
The NSW corruption watchdog is juggling twice as many investigations as it was this time last year, a parliamentary committee has heard.
The Independent Commission Against Corruption is presiding over 16 preliminary investigations and nine ongoing operations, it told a committee reviewing its annual report on Friday.
This compares to six preliminary investigations and nine ongoing operations as of June 30, 2017.
The committee heard local government and transport sectors accounted for many of the corruption complaints and subsequent investigations, as well as corrective services and procurement.
Labor MP and committee member Linda Voltz said she was most concerned about the rise in complaints regarding the transport sector.
"Given the large amount of government spending in this area and the way that budgets have been blown out, you'd have to be taking a good hard look at how this government has managed its transport spend," Ms Voltz told AAP.
"The problem with this government is that there is a lack of transparency."
