NT looks at creating marijuana industry
Marijuana for recreational use could be decriminalised and legally grown for medicinal and industrial purposes to boost the Northern Territory economy.
Chief Minister Michael Gunner said his government was very interested in the Territory's potential to cultivate hemp and medical marijuana, a parliamentary committee was investigating and there had been good health outcomes overseas including in the US.
"I do think it is going to be become a more common topic in Australia, we have not always been as progressive as other parts of the world," he told reporters on Monday.
