Today's Birthday 6/3

Today's Birthday, March 6: Lara Cox, Australian actor, (1978 - ).

One-half of Heartbreak High's most popular romance, Lara Cox, who played Anita Scheppers, and on-screen boyfriend Bogdan 'Drazic' are considered in the esteemed realm of 'Australia's favourite couples'.

Almost two decades ago the pair sealed the deal on the fictional quadrangle of Hartley High, when they got engaged in the final season of the popular teen drama.

But after four years Cox felt it was time to swap the quad for the sand appearing in another much-loved Aussie soap, Home and Away.

After leaving Summer Bay in 1999, last year it was revealed Cox would be taking on the role of Quinn Jackson, the illegitimate American daughter of Alf Stewart. taking over the role originally played by Danielle Spencer in 1995.

Cox was born in Canberra and attended Daramalan and Menai College. At a young age, she signed with a modelling agency who put her forward for Heartbreak High auditions.

The show became an instant hit in Australia and grew a steady following internationally in more than twenty countries. In 2007 Cox said she received photos from a viewer in France of she and her on-screen boyfriend 'Drazic' - played by Callan Mulvey, sent via Myspace.

"We must've been like, 18, 19, 20, and it was such a trip to see them because it was so long ago. But to this guy, it's still screening. He said it's still really popular over there, which is funny because we were such babies," Cox told TV Week .

After four years on Heartbreak High Cox left in 1999 and worked on local productions including Home and Away, All Saints and Above the Law.

She then moved to Los Angeles where she stuck out the audition round and completed a pilot by powerhouse writer and producer David E Kelley (Ally McBeal, Big Little Lies).

She's appeared in several films including 2003's Kangaroo Jack, Voodoo Lagoon in 2006 and The Makeover in 2009.

In between acting work she completed a Bachelor of Counselling and Human Change degree in 2010.

In 2017 she returned to Home and Away for seven episodes.
