Emma Freedman thankful Nine cut her
Emma Freedman's departure from the Nine Network may not have been at her asking but it allowed her to follow her dream to appear on Dancing With The Stars.
Freedman, who hosts a nightly Southern Cross Austereo Scoopla radio show with Jules Lund, will appear on the 15th season of the reality dance show on the Seven Network.
It's a gig the bubbly presenter has always craved but could never have done if she was still contracted as a weather girl to Nine.
"It's something I've always wanted to do," Freedman told AAP.
"If I hadn't have left there I would never had the opportunity to do this show ... a bit of a sliding doors moment."
Now she will be appearing on Dancing With The Stars, she has aligned herself with all three commercial networks in the past seven months.
In January she was a guest co-host on Network Ten's morning show Studio 10, having been cut by Nine in December.
"It's great to be part of something a bit more substantial and part of a show viewers, the audience and the cast, get excited about," Freedman said.
She said this is one reality series in which the participants are not referred to as being a former contestant of the show.
And there is very little negativity surrounding Dancing With The Stars.
"People who might do other reality shows there might be a bit of stigma attached and people ask why they are doing that?," she said.
"I have never heard people say `oh, that show' and it has a really loyal fan base as well."
Seven has slowly been releasing the names of the identities who will be appearing on this year's series.
However, Woman's Day leaked the entire cast.
Among the other indetities appearing on the show are The Morning Show host Larry Emdur, 70s pop icon John Paul Young, former rugby league and union player Matt Rogers, Bachelor Tim Robards, My Kitchen Rules cook Ash Pollard, paralympian Kelly Cartwright and model Samantha Harris.
