Sebastian has the flu ahead of Eurovision
A bout of flu threatens to derail Guy Sebastian's tilt at the Eurovision Song Contest.
The Australian representative is in Vienna preparing for the 60th Eurovision and he's confident of being in good voice by Sunday's grand final.
"I'm a little bit crook but I'll be fine. There's still almost a week to go before the performance," Sebastian told Network Ten's chat show The Project.
"I've got the dreaded flu that has been going around in Australia but I think I'm on the mend, so it should be all sweet."
Sebastian was chosen earlier this year to represent Australia which earnt a wildcard entry.
The inaugural Australian Idol winner says rehearsing for his big moment is more than just about singing it's also about a quality production and set, which includes lighting and pyrotechnics.
However, the team behind Sebastian's show went overboard and brought in too many effects and drowned him in lights.
"At the beginning we ordered everything ... then we watched it back after the rehearsal and it was `woah, it's too much', so we scaled it back," he said.
During his short time in Vienna, he's taken time out to meet other contestants during pre-Eurovision parties and gigs.
He said the "Russian chick" and the "Italian guys" were the ones to watch out for.
Sebastian said the Austrians have also made some fun out of Australia's unlikely entry in Eurovision.
"It's funny because over here they wear these t-shirts, that say there are no kangaroos in Austria."
* Eurovision's grand final will air live on Sunday May 24 from 5am on SBS ONE.
