Nissen working with will.i.am on single
The Voice winner Anja Nissen has confirmed she will collaborate with coach will.i.am on a new winner's single after the original was canned at the last minute.
My Girls, co-written by Delta Goodrem, was due to be released on Friday with the 18-year-old to premiere it on Nine Network's Today show, but reports emerged on Thursday it had been unexpectedly axed.
The song will not see the light of day, also being excluded from Nissen's self-titled debut album due out on August 1.
Nissen confirmed on Friday the Goodrem single has been abandoned in favour of another song from the Black Eyed Peas star.
"Well we had a lot of ideas for a song, and will.i.am decided that he didn't necessarily want me to do that one," she told the Nine Network on Friday.
"He has another idea for another song, so we're looking into that now.
"We don't know when that's gonna happen, but we're working on it now."
Goodrem is yet to comment on the decision.
Nissen said she went straight into the studio with will.i.am after winning the grand final on Monday night.
"We just talked about what was next, and he gave me a lot of industry advice and stuff like that," she said of the US rapper and music producer.
Nissen's manager Michael Parisi said something big coming next week.
"People will be blown away," he told News Corp on Thursday.
"The next stage of her career will be exciting, this is going to throw everything on its head."
Instead of performing My Girls on Today, Nissen sung a cover of John Petty's Free Fallin', which will be included in her album - a compilation of covers she performed on The Voice.
It will also include Mariah Carey's Vanishing, Beyonce's Irreplaceable, David Guetta and Kelly Rowland's When Love Takes Over, Mariah Carey's version of I'll Be There and Lauryn Hill's His Eye on the Sparrow.
The Voice Final 8 tour kicks off in Perth on Sunday.
After it finishes in Brisbane on August 3 Nissen's label Universal will send her to LA where she'll collaborate with international songwriters.
