Actors walk These Final Hours carpet

Making a film where every day is meant to be your last can be pretty tough, but Nathan Phillips says there were silver linings on These Final Hours.

Many would remember Phillips from Wolf Creek but instead of running away from terrifying sociopaths, in These Final Hours he's running toward his doom.

When the film begins, Perth has just 12 hours until, like the rest of the world, it meets its fiery end.

"Well with every day like your last day, it makes you appreciate your own life," Phillips told AAP at the movie's red carpet premiere in Sydney on Monday night.

"(It makes it a) hard day every day, but very blessed."

Phillips walked the carpet with co-star Jessica De Gouw and writer/director Zak Hilditch, as well as other notable Aussies including his Wolf Creek co-star John Jarratt and many family and friends.

"I'm pretty sure everyone here is through me," he joked, adding he can't wait for Australian audiences to see it.

"It's a home grown film. It's for our kin and for all our mob who live in this beautiful blessed country."

Hilditch says it's been a crazy ride getting to this point.

"Every film has its battles but I think that the cast and crew just pulled together in such a way to make this thing happen," he says.

"On a 25-day shoot with no safety net trying to pull off the end of the world was no easy feat but hats off to the Perth crew.

"It's a West Australian film through and through and I couldn't be prouder to bring my home town to the big screen."

For De Gouw the cast and crew "family" made all the difference for what was a tough shoot, considering the subject matter.

Well that - and all her scenes were filmed at or near the beach.

"People generally ask, was it a really difficult job with what it's about, but I kind of spent the week on the beach with some great people," she said earlier.
