Why Anja could win The Voice

The Voice's last female solo artist Anja Nissen is banking on girl power to lift her to victory in Monday night's grand finale.

The 18-year-old, who is being coached by Will.i.am, is surprisingly the second favourite to win the Nine Network series despite failing to make it automatically through to the decider.

Nissen made the ultimate round after being saved by the home viewers, which was a first for The Voice, otherwise the grand final would have been minus a solo female act.

The clear favourite to win is Kylie Minogue's pupil drummer/singer Johnny Rollins who at $1.80 to win with Sportsbet.com.au and $2.05 with Sportingbet.com.au.

However, Rollins has competition to win the the hearts of the young female admirers who make up a large portion of the voting public.

The young women are believed to focus their attention on the males in reality singing shows and besides Rollins, Ricky Martin's student Jackson Thomas and Joel Madden's charge Frank Lakoudis could attract a swag of female votes.

With three males in the final, it could heavily fracture the female vote and allow Nissen, or even duet ZK (Kristal West and Zaachariah Fielding), to snatch victory.

ZK are also being guided by Will.i.am.

Nissen made it through to the grand final after being saved ahead of Holly Tapp, Sabrina Batshon and Kat Jade.

"I have a had lot of comments from people, some saying they used to be a big supporters of Sabrina and now she is not there I am voting for you," Nissen told AAP.

"Because all the girls have gone home, they're saying they will support me which is awesome.

"We have had female artists come through and win competitions like this, but there are way more males than females that have won."

Even if she fails to win, you can expect Nissen to put out an album within the next six months.

First she will complete a tour with the other artists on The Voice and then follow the advice of Minogue who has told her to use the show's momentum to propel her career.

"You have to to come straight off the back of the show because people remember you. Kylie was saying if you don't keep working after the tour you'll get post-tour depression."

Nissen has about 40 songs in the bank and another dozen or so she's working on.

She's determined to make a career out of singing after turning her back on a university degree.

"I worked for my parents at their vegetable cutting business, cutting onions to earn some pocket money and doing gigs here and there to forge a career in music," she said.

"The career I want does not involve me being at uni for two years and wasting my time when I need to get as much experience as possible in the industry."
