Sia caps off No.1 week with MTV nomination
So far, Sia is having an excellent week. First her album reached the No.1 spot in the US Billboard charts, and now she's been nominated for video of the year and best choreography at the MTV Video Music Awards.
The reluctant pop star's quirky video for her song Chandelier caught the world's attention earlier this year, showing young dancer, Maddie Ziegler, dancing through a run-down apartment.
"Omg! Omg! #Chandelier vid nominated for best vid and best choreography! Please vote and RT! This is AWESOME!" Sia tweeted when she heard the news on Thursday.
She also responded to her No.1 spot on the US albums chart with a slightly cryptic tweet.
"Woah, I can't believe this experiment worked. Thank you so much for making my album number 1!" she tweeted.
The singer has shied away from the spotlight and instead chosen to have various other people perform in her stead - all wearing her trademark blonde bob.
Ziegler had the distinctive hair style in the video and Girls star Lena Dunham danced to the song wearing a blonde bobbed wig on Late Night with Seth Meyers.
The shy singer did make an appearance on the Ellen DeGeneres show during a recreation of the video, but kept her back to the audience the whole time.
The style and moves in the video have been ripe for parody, also. Sophie Monk, Merrick Watts and Jules Lund from the 2DayFM breakfast show did their own comic version of the video and countless other fans and comedians have tried to recreate the singer's unique clip.
Sia faces some stiff competition in the best video category from fellow Aussie Iggy Azalea for Fancy, Beyonce for Drunk In Love, Miley Cyrus for Wrecking Ball and Pharrell Williams for Happy.
