Spotlight on Tatum in Foxcatcher trailer
Critics have been buzzing about Channing Tatum's performance in the upcoming Foxcatcher and the latest chilling trailer gives you a glimpse why.
As Olympic wrestler Mark Schultz, Tatum is seen punching himself in the face and violently bashing his head into a mirror, while his voice-over explains how the driven athlete "wants to be the best in the world".
Up until now, the focus has been on Steve Carell and his shocking, near-unrecognisable transformation into eccentric multi-millionaire John du Pont, but this latest teaser puts the spotlight directly on Tatum.
Based on a true story, the Magic Mike star plays wrestler Schultz, who despite being an Olympic gold medallist, cannot escape from the shadow of his successful older brother Dave.
That is, until he finds a sponsor in the schizophrenic du Pont, which leads to some unexpected circumstances.
Carell's eerie du Pont says in the teaser, "Mark, we as a nation have failed to honour you and I want to see this country soar again".
There's still not much shown of Mark Ruffalo as Dave.
Australians keen to check out the psychological drama by Moneyball director Bennett Miller will have to wait until its release on December 18.
